Shop Manager


This is a Full-time position in Las Vegas, NV posted May 8, 2021.

The Service Center Manager shall lead all activities related to shop services, mentor, supervise and guide the employees assigned to the Service Center, while also maintaining a close, engaging relationship with customers, engineers, suppliers and other colleagues within tkIS.

The Service Center Manager shall develop and maintain a professional representation and operation of a Service Center as well as to develop and maintain strategic contracts with sub-suppliers.

The Service Center Manager shall be accountable for resource management, workshop loading, planning, personnel training, HS, material supply, shipping / receiving, work scheduling, cost control, fabrication procedures, and equipment operations.

Main Tasks :Manage and coordinate all aspects of technical/practical works in the Service Center, service and maintenance activities in conjunction with the assigned team.Liaise with sub-suppliers on any matter concerning the Service Center.Development of operating budgets and commitment to working on budget, quality and on time to meet customer’s and tkIS’s expectations.Manage and allocate Service Center HR to internal jobs within the shop or external at customer’s site.Development of manufacturing concepts and strategiesDevelopment of Service Center business, maximizing Service Center workload and strategy for the Service CenterKeep and maintain superior organization and clean / safe working environment of the Service Center at all timesAttend meetings and other business related activities as requested by tkIS ManagementFurther develop techniques to manufacture the parts produced in the Service Center and to commit at all times to improve the products and reduce manufacturing costsLiaise and collaborate with other tkIS/BU CEM Service Centers, BU CEM Management, Engineers and with his team with regard to action planning and exchange of general technical information as well as technology updatesControlling of manufacturing and other operational costs of Service CenterEnforce company policies in regards to OH requirements, and maintain a safe working environment at all timesReporting as required on progress, job hours monitoring, and service/project budgetsIntroduction and commissioning of new machine tools and scope of works.Ensure the Service Center team operates safely and is competent and sufficiently trained to operate equipment and toolingPromotion and touring of customers or potential customers at the Service Center and represent professionally tkIS at all timesOther tasks as directed by the Service Head.

Qualifications / Skills: College degree (BSc degree in engineering preferred) or Technical School Certificate with completed apprenticeshipLeadership experience in fabrication and mechanical shop of at least 5 yearsExperience in supporting the development of work procedures in fabrication environments, specifically related toProduction / planning / schedulingHealth, Safety & EnvironmentQuality Management Systems (including ITPs)Experience in mentoring, coaching and managing of shop resources / trades in fabrication environments of at least 3 years (preferably 5)Experience with inspection / repair functions within a shop environment in preferably the cement industry.Experience in managing and controlling service shop performance metrics.Experience in the development, maintenance and releasing of working plans.Open and engaging personality, able to promote new shop service competence within BU CEM.Experience in managing stock material and parts inventory.Experience in managing site service crews (preferably)Superior skills with MS Excel, Word, Power Point Work Conditions: Reno NV areaWorkshop working environment including noise and dust and requiring the candidate to use physical force from time to time.Some travel to customer sites in the West Coast required.Attend meetings as required.thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (USA) is an equal opportunity employer.
