GENERAL SUMMARY: The Director of Manufacturing is responsible and accountable for all aspects of Manufacturing at the Torrance Facility to set a strategic vision to drive profitability, produce high-quality products and meet its production goals to support growth.

This role will develop processes that will maximize followership, safety, quality and productivity.

Will lead all aspects of the Manufacturing while partnering with peers from EHS, Facilities Management, Supply Chain and Procurement, Process Development, and Customer Service.

Champion the conversion to lean manufacturing and engender an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Establish targets, both financial and non-financial, with clear work plans, and hold managers accountable for achievement.

Will ensure policies and procedures are followed while looking for ways to optimize efficiency to increase production and revenue while providing experienced leadership, mentorship, guidance and direction to the Operations Team.

The Director of Manufacturing will handle cost, quality, schedule, safety & environmental activities for the location.

Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the supervisory team.

Ensure the KPIs and key goals are achieved, and that manufacturing capacity meets the sales plan.

Effectively drive and mentor Danaher Business Systems (DBS), while championing an environment of collaboration and associate engagement.

Maintain headcount, overtime, factory expenses and fiscal budgets are met as set by annual budgets.

Ensure the accurate use of the facility, buildings, machinery, equipment and company property and consistent with city permits and regulations.

Ensure a safe working environment exists consistent with OSHA and safety equipment is maintained and effectively used.

Lead and engage employees during Kaizens to drive continuous improvements.

Lead daily management to drive balanced, continuous improvements in Safety, Quality, Productivity, and On Time Delivery.

Identify and implement strategic opportunities to drive cost reductions / productivity improvements in manufacturing operations.

Lead Performance and Development Process for all direct reports, including providing coaching and development opportunities that will allow everyone’s potential to be maximized.

Ensure the shipment goals, business goals, customer requirements and production plans are achieved.

This role is a high-visibility position, requiring excellent communication skills and the responsibility of being called upon to positively represent the organization in the community and in the media.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises managers to ensure that production goals are met.

Goals may include but are not limited to efficiency, indirect hours, MRDRs and scrap rate.

Develops strategic planning for manufacturing and operations, including CPI and Kaizen responsibility.

Directs and coordinates activities of Operations for which responsibility is delegated to further attainment of goals and objectives.

Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine progress toward stated goals and objectives.

Ensures that employees are trained on safety, company policies and procedures, hazardous waste, MSDS, and ISO9000 requirements.

Takes disciplinary action when needed and promote a positive workplace.

Ensures Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance are adhered to.

Partners with Research & Development in the transition of new products to manufacturing.

Maintains budget and costs, including all fiscal responsibility.

Measures effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes both internally and externally and finds ways to improve processes.

Collaborate with Vice-President for 1-3-year plan for company growth and evolution Assist with financial projections and analyses of existing programs and policies using best manufacturing processes and programs Supports and implements growth strategies Acts as a liaison between company and client for quality assurance Provides mentoring to all employees, including management Motivates staff to meet or surpass organizational goals and objectives Coordinates with human resources department to recruit skilled talent and keep the best employees Oversees daily operations and adjusts as necessary Presents new ideas and strategies to the team and Vice-President Manages optimization of Logistics processes to support company Growth and execution goals Promotes communication between colleagues for the benefit of information flow KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science degree in business, engineering or other science related subject area; advanced degree preferred 10 years’ experience in operations and management running a plant or leading a business unit Must have experience with successful implementation of Continuous Improvements, Lean Manufacturing principles and practices, and have strong understanding CI tools and techniques along with experience of demonstrating sustained results Proven experience as Senior Operations Leader or a similar relevant role with a minimum of 3-5 years of People Management Demonstrable competency in planning and operation processes inclusive of Supply Chain, Cost Management and Logistics Understanding of data analysis and performance/operation metrics Experience in batch chemical manufacturing is strongly preferred Strong financial background with budget-focused mindset Advanced organizational leadership skills Excellent written, oral and communication skills ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Superior intellectual horsepower to operate effectively ahead of the curve and develop effective strategies; Strong leadership skills characterized by a high degree of humility and ability to work at multiple levels of the organization to drive results; Bias for action with strong results orientation; Ability to drive change by engaging others and getting buy-in through influence to achieve goals; Exceptional team building through common objectives and purpose; a strong team leader who inspires and motivates his/her reports and colleagues to achieve superior results; Credibility through demonstrated expertise; Highest levels of personal and professional integrity and ethics, and unquestioned integrity in each of his/her initiatives; A highly analytical thinker who is process-oriented and has a strong continuous improvement mindset; Must possess a detailed understanding of the inter-relationship between manufacturing, engineering, materials, quality and purchasing with exposure in all these areas Clear and disciplined communication skills.
