Coding Consultant II Junior

This is a Contract position in Las Vegas, NV posted May 12, 2022.

Job Description: Performs professional coding audits and professional coding education to employed Intermountain providers and their staff as assigned. This position also plays a significant role in supporting Senior Consultants in their responsibilities and acts as an overflow in support of other departmental processes and functions as assigned. Shift Details This position is Monday through Friday from 8am – 5pm, hybrid schedule (part in office/part remote) Job Essentials 1. Gains expertise in the areas of national physician code sets, insurance billing and reimbursement, national, regional, and local health care coding issues and policies, knowledge of coding compliance issues, as well as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology as they pertain to primary care specialties so as to be a subject-matter expert and resource to others. 2. Obtains national professional coding certification (e.g., CPC) within one year of hire (if not obtained previously). 3. Develops an understanding of the overall revenue cycle billing process and the key roles of its various departments and players in order to be a resource to providers and their staff. 4. Learns to diplomatically and appropriately interface with primary care providers in preparation for Sr Coding Consultant role. 5. Learns and participates in the Primary Care Coding Audit and Education Process by performing audits and providing education to Intermountain physician’s and staff. 6. Provides support and assistance to senior team members. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. Or, Three years of experience in healthcare. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Experience working effectively with team members and managing assigned workload Proven proficiency in calendaring, email, word processing, and spreadsheet applications Ability to travel Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. National professional coding certification Knowledge of AS400, IDX, EDW, and Help2 systems Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Access Knowledge and understanding of: national physician code sets; Medicare and other insurance carrier regulations; compliance issues; medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information. Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. See and read computer monitors and documents. Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
