Senior Benefits Analyst

The Venetian Resort Las Vegas

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Sr. Analyst – Benefits is to support the Benefits Department with managing, reporting, auditing, and compliance processing. The ideal candidate will support planning, maintenance and execution of benefits administration. Additional responsibilities will include billing, FSA substantiation and taxation, eligibility systems maintenance and compliance reporting including but not limited to non-discrimination testing and plan affordability testing. Must work well independently, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be highly attentive to detail. The Sr. Analyst – Benefits must work well in a collaborative team environment and build/maintain strong relationships with all departments and employees.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct accountability for maintaining accurate analysis of eligibility measurement and benefit program enrollment rules.
  • Provide input to the functional requirements for health information technology, preferable with eligibility and enrollment systems.
  • Administer ACA program, designs, tests, trains and defines support procedures for ACA technology solution as well as maintains the system ensuring data integrity, internal reporting of hours and timely distribution/filings of 1094-C and 1095-C.
  • Oversee/direct the administration of COBRA compliance in conjunction with the outside COBRA administrator.
  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of the 401(k) plan in coordination with the administrator (includes day to day plan operations, Department of Labor / ERISA and Department of Treasury / IRS requirements, 5500 filing, audits, etc.)
  • Generate operational and special reports utilizing various vendor partner systems such as, ADP Report Writer (ADPR), Kronos, Cognos, etc.
  • Ensure data integrity, analyzes data trends, audits and maintains employee enrollment data and billing.
  • Audit, investigate and resolve any issues associated with benefit invoices prior to processing for payment.
  • Review, research, and processes benefit deduction files timely to ensure accurate Team Member payroll deductions related to benefits.
  • Responsible for data necessary to complete government compliance activities (5500s, audits, etc.), employee mailings, vendor billings, coordinating data collection and updating numerous reports for management. Assures processes and procedures are in place to capture and maintain consistent and accurate benefit related data. Assists with employee data auditing and reporting.

  • Conduct timely analysis and reporting designed to test plans for non-discrimination and affordability to include childcare taxation.
  • Evaluates existing benefits programs and proposed changes.
  • Provide management planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing employee benefit data and trends.
  • Assist with plans and designs of complex business processes and makes recommendations to improve and support business activities.
  • Create test case scenarios for testing the business applications to verify requirements are incorporated into the system design.
  • Assist with resolution of complex benefit issues.
  • Willingness to coach and train other HR team members on analytical methodology.
  • Ability to confidentially handle highly sensitive information.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent with HR coursework preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years related experience required.
  • ADP experience preferred.
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ACA and related regulations
  • Requires exceptional communication skills, excellent writing skills, strong customer service and analytical skills; prepares high quality documents and report preparation.
  • Extreme attention to detail and high-quality standards.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills to manage multiple, competing priorities and duties (planned and unplanned).
  • Highly efficient and organized work style to manage competing priorities and a significant volume of electronic files and data from multiple sources.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service skills to effectively answer inquiries from employees and management.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations in computing rates, premiums and adjustments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel including formulas, pivot tables and layered charts.
  • Strong business acumen in benefits with an emphasis on eligibility rules and the Affordability Act Compliance regulations.
  • A passion for problem solving, flexibility, comfort with ambiguity, creativity and the hunger to constantly ask “why”?
  • Driven and results oriented, with strong skills in project management.
  • Ability to create, maintain and disseminate information to stakeholders for multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as an active member of both business and HR teams.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
