The Eligibility Worker I/II position interviews, investigates and verifies eligibility of potential and existing clients for various social service and related programs.Online Service Unit: The Eligibility Worker I/II determines eligibility for financial assistance programs, which include rental assistance, out of state transportation, and possibly the grant funded Welfare set Aside Program. Eligibility Workers will be assigned cases daily which they will need to process within specific time periods while maintaining an accurate and timely excel spreadsheet of assigned cases. Senior Service Unit:The Eligibility Worker I/II assists with completing initial financial eligibility for Homemaker Home Health Aide (HHHA) program and completes annual eligibility redetermination for all HHHA clients, including updating documents in the data management system as required. This position completes community referrals for clients as needed related to financial assistance, energy assistance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), specialty Medicaid programs, state specific programs for seniors and people with disabilities, Life Line, Meals on Wheels, etc. Eligibility Worker I: $16.64 – 25.76 HourlyEligibility Worker II: $17.97 – 27.83 HourlyTHIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 350 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AND WILL CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE THAT NUMBER IS REACHED. This examination will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by the Office of Human Resources. The Eligibility Worker I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the probationary period (520 hours worked to 2,080 hours worked) and the training program, which is up to two (2) years, the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Eligibility Worker II.Some positions may be Grant Funded. Grant Funded positions are subject to continuation based on availability of grant funds and the employee will be terminated without right of appeal when such funds are no longer available.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSQualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Obtains and verifies income, asset insurance and related information; contacts employers, banks, social security, veterans’ administration and other public and private sources as necessary. Assists clients in completing applications; provides factual information regarding various program regulations and procedures; may act as an advocate for the client with other organizations. Creates and maintains case files; maintains accurate documentation regarding all information received and actions taken. Determines the need for specific types of assistance, such as transportation, medical care, appliances for the disabled, senior companion or burial services. Maintains accurate logs and complies records of work performed. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. May make home visits to obtain and verify case information; prepares case notes of such home visits. Enters client information into an automated database system.
