Chief Estimator

This is a Full-time position in Las Vegas, NV posted March 9, 2021.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Chief Estimator consist of, but are not limited to, the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:* Personnel:* Oversee/conduct training, supervision, review and for estimating personnel.* Assist in the staffing of the department to ensure personnel capabilities align with business plan goals* Sales/Business Development:* Assist Business Development with sales presentations to customer base and new prospects.* Develop and maintain client relationships.* Participate in the development of business and marketing plans. Contribute to the setting of volume goals.* Represent KHS&S at industry, community and customer events.* Estimating:* Prepare estimates and proposals for projects.* Participate with management in selecting projects to bid.* Assign projects to estimating staff based on capabilities and workload. Work with other estimating department management to utilize company-wide estimating resources, as needed.* Oversee the preparation of estimates and proposals for assigned projects according to standard processes. Ensure all project specific considerations and assumptions have been analyzed, costs are accurate and proposal letter clearly communicates and qualifies the bid.* Oversee value engineering of new or alternate materials, means and methods of construction.* Oversee the qualification of proposals from supplier’s subcontractors; participate in the procurement process, as directed.* Oversee the follow-up on bids by the Estimators.* Develop estimating procedures for improvement, and works with other leaders in the process.* Updates Bid Matrix and Hot List on a weekly basis.* Review the estimating status report regularly to ensure it is accurate and up to date.* Compile and maintain a database of useful historical information to be used as baseline costs for estimate review, as well as for conceptual estimates for clients.* Operations:* Participate in Job Kickoff Meeting and Budget Buy-In Meeting; support Project Team as required thereafter.* Provide technical and estimating assistance with Change Orders, as required.* Other Duties:* Assist in the management of the Volume Projection Report.* Review and correct Bid Stat information, as necessary.* Participate in updating and setting standards for estimating staff work capabilities and capture ratios.* Attend seminars/educational training programs as required.* Perform any other related or unrelated, unassigned, unspecified duty that may be needed from time to timeEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or other appropriate field of study.Experience: Required 10 years related experience in estimating in the construction industry and experience estimating large interior/exterior wall and ceiling projects. 3-4 years’ experience as a Chief Estimator managing staff is preferred.Skills: Proven leadership, strategic and communication skills. . Ability to read and interpret drawings, including schematic and conceptual formats. Extensive knowledge of construction materials, means and methods.Physical: Includes sitting, standing, reaching, walking; use of hands, arms, legs, and feet. Must be able to see and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations.Communication: Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and employees.Computer: Advanced experience with Quickbid and OST estimating software. Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bluebeam.
