We are seeking a talented, passionate, and collaborative Full-Stack Senior or Principal-Level Software Engineer who would enjoy knowing their work is used to improve the working lives of tens of thousands of United States government employees every single day. Supporting our CWT Defense and Government organization, you can be part of a talented, long-standing web application engineering team that develops our flagship, enterprise-level, end-to-end travel management solution for the US civilian government.

Responsibilities

• On a daily basis, you’ll collaborate closely with 4-5 direct team members on the highest strategic priority feature for our US Government travel program web application. We have several teams working in close concert on our priorities in an Agile-based environment.
• Your team will develop code to solve the problems presented by these features, but what does that entail for you personally? You’ll code, you’ll review your team members’ code, you and your team members might decide to pair or even mob program together, you’ll write automated tests (either beforehand with TDD or after) covering a suite of technologies such as JUnit, Protractor, Selenium, and more, and you’ll help maintain good documentation supporting our technology stack. You’ll use good CI/CD patterns to ensure your team maintains quality accountability for code deployment and its lifecycle into Production.
• For upcoming features/user stories, you’ll also participate in organic refinement and estimation, helping to define the scope and requirements of that work. While we have dedicated product owner business partners for each team, our engineers help by asking hard questions and making recommendations to minimize gold-plating and maximizing value.

Having a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is certainly helpful. However, more important is your ability to apply your knowledge, however learned, to solving problems.

• Java – we’re a Java shop, Java 8 right now, but plan on modernizing
• Spring framework, Spring Boot, annotations, etc.
• Classic web application patterns, such as: MVC, MVVM, etc.
• Classic web application technologies, such as: (X)HTML, CSS(3), JSP, JSF/Facelets, Rich-web frameworks/AJAX such as JQuery/Richfaces, Oracle PL/SQL, etc.
• Modern CI/CD patterns and technologies including Maven, Jenkins/Blue Ocean, and GitHub
• Modern, responsive web frameworks and technologies such as Angular, Bootstrap, RESTful APIs, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or other cloud providers, and microservices…
