Overview

Ever wanted to be an industry-specific developer in the world of fintech and payment solutions, but also be in the music business?

Our client helps facilitate royalty distributions in the music industry. They’re looking for an API developer that can write maintainable payment infrastructure to help calculate and distribute royalties at scale.

This is a great role to enter the fintech industry with — you’ll be introduced to some of the technical challenges with financial transactions (looking at you, floating point rounding errors!) without a lot of the mission-critical stress that some of the higher-end roles can have.

The team here is also very protective of your time. You’ll have a reasonable work schedule.

Role Details

This is a direct-hire or contract-to-hire role, depending on what suits you best. While you’ll be more than welcome to work remote most days, you’ll need to be within reasonable driving distance of HQ in Nashville to come into the office a few times per week.

You’ll be working with a large front-end team and a small back-end team supporting a mobile and web app. Youe responsibility will include helping build and flush out an API that largely has the “happy path” implemented. The product is still rather young so there’s plenty of opportunity to leave your mark and help guide architectural decisions.

A good portion of the work tickets are ready to go, to be worked on, in Trello. Day 1 of work will be really straightforward and clear, giving you plenty of time to acclimate to the code base.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a maintainable API infrastructure in C#/.NET.
• Help drive balanced choices between technical debt and getting things done.
• Identify bottlenecks in code quality + structure to improve developer speed.
• Manage communications, ask questions, and tackle development tasks.
• Be coached, coach others, and grow your technical skill set to better solve future engineering problems.
• Help plan the vision of the engineering team: from process, design patterns, to new and more effective tools to use.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• 4+ years as a software engineer or equivalent grind-hours.
• Experience with .NET 4.x and .NET Core 3.x.
• 1+ years of direct software engineering experience with C#, with comfort in making C#/.NET architectural decisions.
• Ability to lead the conversation and think through curve balls that come with a growing tech stack.
• Experience writing and maintaining APIs with appropriate versioning/continued integration.
• Understanding of HATEOAS Driven REST APIs (or willing to google it).
• Ability to humbly own the mistakes that you will make, and fix them yourself.
• Ability to tell leadership that they’re wrong (diplomatically), when you know there’s a better way.
