About the Opportunity The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) provides day-to-day support to assigned campuses/departments within the Democracy Prep network. The HRBP is also responsible for providing responsive and strategic consultation and advice to school leaders, teachers, and other faculty in the areas of onboarding, benefits, compensation, leaves of absence, training and development, performance management, compliance, policy interpretation, and efforts related to improving the work environment. An education reformer with an unwavering commitment to the Democracy Prep mission of college success and authentic civic engagement for our scholars What You’ll Do Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned campuses/departments across multiple Democracy Prep regions to answer general HR-related inquiries and respond to questions or concerns timely and accurately. Conduct regular meetings with respective campus leaders to build a strong partnership. Support execution of human resources plans and practices. Consult with respective campuses/departments to understand current needs and opportunities to address them. Take part in recommending new approaches, policies, processes, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of services performed. Partner with Recruitment, Employee Relations, Total Rewards, Talent Development and People Operations to deliver on various staff needs. Assist employees in addressing questions or issues regarding pay, benefits, time reporting, or leave issues in consultation with the Total Rewards team. Lead employee onboarding activities, including answering employee questions and providing support to managers when integrating new hires into the organization. Manage and resolve basic or routine employee relations issues, e.g., attendance, tardiness, and professionalism concerns. Coordinate the investigation of complex and/or sensitive employee relations complaints and concerns with the Employee Relations team. Ensure that HR transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner. Assist in communicating company policies and procedures; and promote understanding within the organization and across school operations. Conduct job analyses to establish specific requirements of individual jobs; classify positions in accordance with FLSA guidelines; and create job descriptions or re-scope job descriptions to meet campus/departmental needs. Assist in maintaining employee records and files. Maintain sound working knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws; and ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. Participate in department staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars, as required. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, or related field. At least five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in Human Resources Management, HR Operations, HR Compliance, or other relevant HR-focused area. At least one (1) year of experience with Employee Relations as a primary responsibility. Experience with Human Resources Information System (HRIS) software. Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA). Computer proficiency with web applications, and Google Workspace. Desired Qualifications HRCI and/or SHRM Certification. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Sound working knowledge of data collection methods and procedures. Experience working with K-12 education. Compensation Salary is commensurate with your experience.
