This is an exciting opportunity for a Director, Public Relations to join the North America Communications team for Informa Markets.

  • Manage day-to-day of Informa Markets’ PR department, comprising two PR Managers, two PR Specialists, and an external agency
  • Drive strategy and tactics, including overseeing/owning long-term projects as well as well daily tasks.
  • Introduce new tactics that insert Informa Markets and each event brand into relevant conversations and boost awareness within respective industries  
  • Support Informa Markets’ digital and sustainability-focused initiatives  
  • Author and edit press releases, contributed articles, marketing copy, and pitch stories and trends to generate local, national, and trade coverage
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the business, using media relations experience to guide the leadership team in pitching proactive stories on a national and local scale, driving positive news cycles and in-depth stories about brand/exhibitor/speaker references
  • Lead the delivery of tailored trainings for media-facing spokespeople within the team
  • Identify high visibility speaking opportunities for key stakeholders across portfolios; assist executive leadership in developing presentations, speeches, and other important corporate messages
  • Collaborate with sales and conference producers to develop PR opportunity programs that proactively drive exhibitor- and speaker-forward storytelling efforts at our events
  • Travel to events, managing on-site press efforts and supporting direct reports
  • Work with the marketing and leadership teams to articulate and update brand value propositions and mission statements

About You

  • Strong writing skills across multiple vehicles (including print, online, social media, etc.) and types (including press releases, bylines, FAQs, social media content, plans, reports, etc.)
  • Self-starter: Proven ability to prioritize and be assertive, and a willingness to take ownership is key to success.
  • Proven mentor and coach. Ability to manage a group of talented PR professionals.
  • Team player! We are kind, collaborative, and supportive and hope you are too.
  • Skilled collaborator with ability to maintain composure and quality under deadline pressure.
  • Must be an energetic self-starter and resourceful problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Likes to travel! Candidate likes to travel to events and interface with the team onsite.
