Digital Manufacturing Designer – Sheet Metal – 1st Shift or 2nd Shift


This is a Contract position in Las Vegas, NV posted August 1, 2022.

Job Purpose: The Digital Manufacturing Designer
– Sheet Metal is responsible for using proprietary computer software to analyze customer supplied 3D CAD models, provide customers quotations and design for manufacturing feedback, and create digital files for manufacturing.

This position will be first or second shift.General Duties and Responsibilities:Create quotes and manufacturing packages using proprietary software and customer supplied CAD models.Provide customers with design for manufacturing feedback as needed to improve customer experience.Modify provided 3D models utilizing CAD software to create a 3D assembly overlay, forming prints, work orders, and a sheet metal flat pattern asCreates Laser, Forming and Punch CNC programs from customer supplied models.Work with production staff to review methods ensuring optimal sheet metal manufacturing processes are utilized.Has a working knowledge of all standard materials and hardware types, plating, powder coating, and welding requirementsDevelop and maintain knowledge of organizational processes in order to convey benefits and respond to inquiries from customers within quotes.Consistently evaluates for best practice and improvement opportunities for self, team, and company.Comply with all company quality and safety standards.Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures.Perform additional tasks as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to learn advanced proprietary graphical computer-aided analysis software.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to multitask and prioritize own workload.Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.Attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to comprehend and follow printed and computer-screen instructions, and direction from supervisors or technical leads.Education and Experience: Associate’s Degree in CAD, Drafting, or Design; Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or similar (Preferred)High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)Basic level of Microsoft Office Suite, (Outlook, Word, Excel)Proto Labs maintains ITAR-compliant operations in all of our United States based facilities.
